Stoller Australia provide Aqua Cal, an irrigation product that helps the plants to recover from salt damage. Besides displacing the salt with its positively charged calcium ions and nitrogen content, the product helps in quick growth of the roots by stimulating the root hormones.
When the roots are watered in excess amount, they are generally deprived of air and the salt in the water is retained around the roots. The salty soil that contains sodium sticks the clay particles together preventing soil drainage. When Aqua Cal is applied, the positively charged ammonium nitrogen in the product enters the root zone and pushes the salt away from the root. The salt is then replaced with calcium which prevents the formation of salt in the root for sometime.
The calcium generally opens up the soil, enhances the soil drainage and helps in leaching the sodium and chloride from the roots. Application of Aqua Cal can be repeated to ensure that there is adequate amount of calcium to leech away the salt in the roots. Post harvest in vines Aquacal from Stoller Australia is applied at the range of 50-75 litre/ha. For spring applications in Vines 25 to 75 litres/ha is applied while 25 to 75 litres /ha is applied for the seasonally growing vegetables.
